Agate Private School
Terms of Service
Using LearnFree.ca
Last updated: November 1, 2026.
LearnFree.ca is operated by Agate Private School. These terms explain the use of our website, member tools, community spaces and shop. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy and any terms provided for a particular school service or purchase.
If you have questions, contact gayle@learnfree.ca or use our contact page. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the member tools or place an order; contact us to discuss alternatives for school support.
School enrolment and educational support
A website account does not enrol a learner in Agate. School enrolment follows our separate application and acceptance process, and school services may have their own agreements and fees.
Agate supports self-directed learning and families who choose to homeschool. We are registered with the Ontario Ministry of Education as a non-inspected private school. Educational support, assessments and documentation are provided within that role. Post-secondary institutions decide their own admission requirements and acceptance outcomes; a website resource, portfolio entry or assessment does not guarantee admission or a particular result.
Our enrolment information, School FAQ and prospectus explain the school’s services in more detail.
Accounts and family access
Provide accurate information, keep account details up to date and protect your sign-in credentials. Do not use someone else’s account or share a password. Tell us promptly if you believe an account has been misused.
Parent accounts manage family information and purchases and can invite a second parent. Invite only someone authorised to access that family’s information. Learners use their own accounts with school-issued @ms.learnfree.ca email addresses and have access appropriate to their role. Parents should help learners understand these terms and the audiences for their contributions.
Learner work and program and activity choices are visible to linked parents and authorised Agate staff as part of the learning support service. Contact us about changes to family access rather than sharing an account.
Learning choices and activities
Learners are free to choose learning paths beyond the programs listed on our site. Program selections, portfolios and activity signups help document and discuss those choices.
Selecting a program does not automatically enrol you with an external provider. Joining an activity on the website records your interest; it does not confirm attendance or guarantee that a session will run. Check the calendar and any instructions from the organiser for current arrangements.
External learning platforms and meeting services have their own account requirements, terms and privacy practices. Follow those requirements, including any request for parental involvement.
Community conduct and uploads
Help keep the community useful and welcoming. Be respectful, discuss ideas without attacking people, and share only material you have permission to use. Do not post harassment, threats, hateful content, spam, impersonation, unlawful material or another person’s private information without permission.
Do not upload malicious files, attempt to bypass access controls, disrupt the service or access another family’s information. Choose the appropriate forum and remember that other members of that forum can read your contributions.
Agate may moderate, move or remove contributions and restrict access when needed to protect people or the service. Where practical, we will explain the issue and give you an opportunity to respond. Contact us if you want a moderation or account decision reviewed.
Your work and school resources
You retain any ownership rights you hold in your uploaded work. By submitting material, you allow Agate to store, display and share it with the audiences needed to operate the features you use, such as your linked family, authorised staff or members of the forum where you post. This permission does not transfer ownership of your work to Agate.
Public use of identifiable learner work or stories is handled separately, as described in our Privacy Policy. Do not upload material you do not have the right to share.
School materials and third-party resources remain subject to their owners’ rights and any licence provided with them. Linking to a resource does not give permission to reproduce or redistribute it.
Shop orders and payments
Use a parent account or another account authorised to access the shop. Prices are in Canadian dollars unless a product expressly states otherwise. Review the product description, price and any applicable charges before paying. The details shown for your order and any additional terms disclosed before purchase form part of that purchase.
Payments are processed through Stripe’s secure payment service. Current shop purchases are one-time payments; an annual licence does not itself create an automatically renewing subscription.
Provide correct contact and account details so we can fulfil your order. Minecraft Education licences require the relevant school-issued @ms.learnfree.ca accounts. Agate assigns licences manually after payment; payment confirmation is not confirmation that a licence has already been assigned.
Keep your order confirmation and contact us if details are incorrect, an item has not been supplied or a payment appears to have been taken in error.
Cancellations, refunds and service questions
Contact Agate promptly with your order reference if you need to cancel, request a refund or report a problem. The response will depend on the product or service, whether it has been supplied or started, the terms disclosed when you ordered and your rights under applicable law.
These terms do not impose a blanket no-refund rule or remove any cancellation, refund or other consumer right that the law gives you. If we cannot fulfil an order, we will contact you to arrange an appropriate resolution.
Availability and external services
We aim to keep the site useful and accurate, but features, resources and activity arrangements may change, and the website may sometimes be unavailable. Keep your own copies of important work rather than relying on the website as your only backup.
External websites, payment processors and learning platforms operate independently. Their availability and terms are outside Agate’s control. Contact us if an external service prevents you from accessing something you purchased from Agate so we can help resolve the issue.
Nothing in these terms excludes a responsibility or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes, questions and applicable law
We may update these terms as the website changes. The date above identifies the latest revision. Changes do not retrospectively remove rights attached to an existing purchase or school agreement; material changes will be brought to your attention where required.
These terms are governed by the laws applicable in Ontario, Canada, without limiting mandatory rights that apply to you elsewhere. We encourage you to contact Agate first so we can try to resolve questions or concerns together.
